Porn cards are so prominent and outrageous, that they should never become just part of the background in Korea.

This is definitely a risk though. The longer you’re here, the more you take a small picture of a woman demeaning herself, strewn about the street for prostitution purposes, as a matter of course.

But here at speakingkorea.com, we recognize the importance of the porn card as a representation of the very large prostitution industry in this country. With that in mind, here is the flavour of the day, in Gwangju at least:

As you can see, these days it’s all about the booty. Actually this style of card is a bit different from the typical brand. It’s clear to me that there’s another game in town.

Porn card wars may be in our future. It could mean big things for the quality of the medium as an art form (as you know, competition is a leading source of human ingenuity).

Porn cards in a neighbourhood near you?

Porn cards aren’t actually everywhere. In fact they only seem to exist in the bigger cities, and in the more affluent areas of these cities. Basically they seem to be available in places where men can afford to pay for the service (if you’ll call it that). The cards say full service is 100,000 won – roughly $90 American dollars.

How these cards continue to thrive without police interference is some matter of debate. In the end, one must assume that it’s about as simple as not being able to prove the guilt of those involved unless they actually catch them in the act.
